The Magic of SMTP AUTH

• Only do SMTP AUTH if the client ask for it

  • define(`confAUTH_OPTIONS', `p')

• Activate Relaying via SMTP AUTH

  • TRUST_AUTH_MECH(`LOGIN PLAIN DIGEST-MD5 CRAM-MD5')dnl
  • Per default, relaying is allowed for any user who authenticated via a "trusted" mechanism, i.e., one that is defined via TRUST_AUTH_MECH

• /etc/mail/access call still be used

  • Will try SMTP AUTH first, fails will look in /etc/mail/access
